The Rotary Clubs of Kona present the 25th Annual Kailua-Kona Community
Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 12th, 2009 at 5 pm.
This year’s Grand Marshall is Gloria Juan-Tapa’atoutai. Gloria is a longtime music teacher and heads up the youth ukulele orchestra at Kealakehe Intermedate School, which performs throughout the west side of the island. She is being recognized for her work in guiding our youth in positive areas.
Last year, the parade featured over 60 entrants with over 1,300 participants.
Musical entries are encouraged as are lighted entries.
The Parade will assemble at the Kona Kekuaokalani Gymnasium parking lot at 4:00 pm on December 12 (although entrants will be welcome to use the parking lot to assemble their floats anytime from 9 a.m. on). The Parade will start promptly at 5:00 p.m. and take the traditional Kuakini Highway route to Palani Road to Ali’i Drive to the Coconut Grove Marketplace. Entry opening date is September 1, 2009. The deadline to submit an application to enter the Parade is Tuesday, December 1, 2009, or sooner if the parade fills.
The parade theme is “Na Mele O’ Kalikimaka”
